You rallied. You made signs. You wore costumes. You chanted. You sang songs. You showed up!!
You brought your joy, your peaceful spirit, and your determined strength to stand shoulder to shoulder with people who care about the ethics of democracy and about communities and people beyond your own. We had not one single incident, not one piece of trash was left behind, and not one single peacekeeper or marshal had a negative interaction with anyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
The numbers are still coming in, but we joined nearly 7 MILLION people worldwide to prove that the resistance is not just strong, it is growing stronger every day.
What’s next? We need to continue with the hard work of fighting down this authoritarian takeover everyday both locally and nationally. If you have not already, join an Indivisible group, get involved in supporting local candidates and local get-out-the-vote efforts, keep calling your representatives/senators, showing up to town halls, writing letters to editor, and rallying peacefully and publicly wherever there is the opportunity. Keep reaching across differences to your neighbors who could be persuadable if you invite them into conversation without shaming or criticizing them.
Stay strong and courageous and remember when you’re alone or feeling low that there are a lot of us out here working toward the same thing – we are in this together!
