Cooperstown Oneonta Indivisible is a local chapter of the national Indivisible group. We are a volunteer grassroots group focused on standing up for and improving our democracy. We are especially focused on efforts to dismantle democracy and attack the public services that our taxes pay for and upon which our citizens depend.  We work towards supporting healthy local communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

June 14th, United Universalist Society of Oneonta

Live from New York! A 90 min watch party starting at 7:00pm with food, fun, and opportunities to meet and hang out with friends and neighbors and then to enjoy a 7:30pm livestream of the “Rise Up and Sing Out” concert in NYC featuring Bette Midler, Jane Fonda, Patti Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Joy Reid, Wilson Cruz, and Sasha. Bring your family and friends who may be new to the resistance so we can welcome them to the resistance community. We’re answering the call of the No Kings coalition and gathering our community to celebrate our First Amendment Rights.

Join us at the United Universalist Society of Oneonta (UUSO) at 7 pm to enjoy refreshments and connection with other attendees. We’ll watch the concert together starting at 7:30 pm.

Come for community connections, solidarity, and refreshments!  Please bring friends and family who may be new to the resistance so we can welcome them to the resistance community.

This Summer, join our group members in front of the post office on Main Street, Cooperstown. Wednesday 12:00- 1:30, Come for the whole time or any part of it. Thursday, the Beacon group is out from 5-5:30. Cooperstown is busy this time of year, so it’s a great opportunity to reach people with your messages of joyful resistance to authoritarianism and your support of community and democracy. Bring your signs hit Main Street!

Please help us help those vulnerable to ICE arrest.

We have been attempting to get these fliers out to venues which may have contact with immigrants of every legal status- who are now ALL subject to arrest. Know what are your rights, what NOT to do, how to prepare yourself and your family.

Your secret power: copy & paste to send these images- or print them and distribute to people and places such as retail outlets, public or religious offices, neighbors, business that likely employ low wage workers….

ANOTHER FUNDING BILL DEADLINE IS COMING UP! WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Make this call everyday that you can! We need the Senate to oppose any bill that includes increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol and to refuse to vote for any funding bill that doesn’t strengthen restrictions on ICE, end their deployment to our cities, and reject their ever expanding mandate. Once you’ve called the Senate, call the house and demand the same.

Senator Schumer: (202) 228-3027

Senator Gillibrand: 202-224-4451

Congressman Riley: 202-225-5541

While you’re at it, connect ICE’s action to Venezuela and Trump and company’s gleeful dropping of bombs on boats and countries. Ask our Democratic reps what they are doing to hammer their Republican colleagues on Trump completely bypassing Congress to run our military and our country like an emperor.

Hold Republicans accountable, too. Visit this FB link to learn about and take part in WeThePeopleDefend.org‘s “Be the Wedge” campaign. This page has all the links and information you need to call/write to Republicans who are starting to stand up to Trump. We need to be the wedge helping to break apart the lockstep Republican block.

Boycotts work. Spotify and Avelo airlines were both working with ICE. They were the subjects of organized boycotts. Now they are no longer working with ICE. And don’t forget Disney and Jimmy Kimmel. Next up Citizens Bank and their partnership with the private prison industry. Read all about it here.
