Good Trouble Lives On

July 17 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

July 17, Neahwa Park, Noon to 1 p.m

Good Trouble Rally and Live Art Display:  Flood the Zone with Truth!

We’re doing something a little different. John Lewis, whom we remember and honor on July 17, the day of his passing, always emphasized that effective action requires understanding and education — that beyond just protest, knowledge of the truth is imperative to activism. Right  now we need to make sure EVERYONE from every point on the political spectrum understands the truth about how the Trump regime is smashing the walls of our democracy at lightning speed, destroying our rights and vital public services. Please join CooperstownOneonta Indivisible, Cherry Valley Indivisible, Indivisible for Schoharie County, and Butternut Valley Indivisible to “Flood the Zone with Truth” about the Trump regime’s assaults on our rights and our democracy.
Bring your creative signs for our “Sign Garden”!  We’ll do live art. We’ll create a beautiful garden of protest signs that we’ll photograph and video to spread far and wide. (Attach your sign to a metal yard stake or bring an easel; we’ll have some extra, but help us out by bringing your own.)  Otsego Media will also be in the park filming so we can create a video of our “Flood the Zone with Truth” day. Come be part of the video!
We’ll have information for you to learn from, take with you, and use to spread facts about the big, horrible bill and more. You probably know that this bill cuts Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential programs for the poor and working class and makes health insurance more expensive for all Americans. Did you know this bill is a backdoor ‘ban’ on reproductive healthcare? That it cuts taxes for gun silencers? That while millions lose or pay more for health insurance, $40 million of our tax dollars will go toward building a “Garden of Heroes” in DC? And you know who gets to choose the heroes.
And we have a special guest:  Talented local singer, Devon LaBoy will perform, and you won’t want to miss it!
Challenge:  Donate nonperishable food Items to our food drive for Cooperstown Food Pantry and bring ‘newbys’! – bring friends or family who have been on the sidelines. Let’s grow the resistance!
We’ll be on the southside of Hodges Pond near the Summer Concert Bandstand between Veterans Memorial Walk and Francis Marx Drive.
