SUMMARY:No Kings 2.0
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the field adjacent to Foothills Performing Arts Center for our No Kings 2.0 rally! We’ll hear from inspirational speakers\, enjoy some amazing music\, then line up along Main Street in a show of patriotism and support for democracy. Let’s show our community that we are all in this together. \nOver five million people protested against Trump’s authoritarian regime on No Kings Day. We hope to double that number for this one. As he ramps up his attack on US cities\, uses the Department of Justice against his political opponents\, and furthers his agenda to create a dictatorship\, we need to raise our voices and speak out louder than ever with our message: America has no kings\, and the power belongs to the people! \nNow is not the time to back down. We need to get louder. We need to get stronger. We do NOT stand down to the intimidation of bullies and autocrats. Too many vulnerable people are depending on us — our lives in a free society are at stake. Shoulder to shoulder we stand strong and we will take care of each other. \nBring your signs. Bring friends\, family\, co-workers and neighbors. Bring a non perishable food item for the “Your Safe Haven” food pantry. \nLet’s make this the biggest stand for democracy this country has ever seen! \nFor more details and to register\, click here:  https://mobilize.us/s/thwXqM

SUMMARY:Workers Over Billionaires Labor Day Rally
DESCRIPTION:Labor and community are planning more than a barbecue on Labor Day this year because we have to stop the billionaire takeover. Billionaires are converting the government into their private slush fund and just passed the largest wealth giveaway in the history of the US. The money they take from working families\, they put in billionaires’ pockets and set aside to fund a private army of ICE agents. \nJust like any bad boss\, the way we stop the takeover is with collective action. We are working people rising up to stop the billionaire takeover–not just through the ballot box or the courts\, but through building a bigger and stronger movement. We are growing our movement and fighting for a country that is more fair\, just\, equitable\, and free for all of us—and not just a chosen few. \nOn September 1st we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st\, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people. \nThousands of communities across the country are taking a stand on Labor Day\, join us! We will be in the streets\, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms\, and at congressional offices. Together we will demand a country that puts workers over billionaires. \nOUR DEMANDS TO BUILD THE SOCIETY WE ALL DESERVE: \n\nStop the billionaire takeover corrupting our government.\nProtect and defend Medicaid\, Social Security\, and other programs for working people.\nFully funded schools\, and healthcare and housing for all.\nStop the attacks on immigrants\, Black\, indigenous\, trans people\, and all our communities.\nInvest in people not wars.\n\nPlease note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events.

SUMMARY:Good Trouble Lives On
DESCRIPTION:July 17\, Neahwa Park\, Noon to 1 p.m\nGood Trouble Rally and Live Art Display:  Flood the Zone with Truth! \n\nWe’re doing something a little different. John Lewis\, whom we remember and honor on July 17\, the day of his passing\, always emphasized that effective action requires understanding and education — that beyond just protest\, knowledge of the truth is imperative to activism. Right  now we need to make sure EVERYONE from every point on the political spectrum understands the truth about how the Trump regime is smashing the walls of our democracy at lightning speed\, destroying our rights and vital public services. Please join CooperstownOneonta Indivisible\, Cherry Valley Indivisible\, Indivisible for Schoharie County\, and Butternut Valley Indivisible to “Flood the Zone with Truth” about the Trump regime’s assaults on our rights and our democracy.\n\nBring your creative signs for our “Sign Garden”!  We’ll do live art. We’ll create a beautiful garden of protest signs that we’ll photograph and video to spread far and wide. (Attach your sign to a metal yard stake or bring an easel; we’ll have some extra\, but help us out by bringing your own.)  Otsego Media will also be in the park filming so we can create a video of our “Flood the Zone with Truth” day. Come be part of the video!\n\nWe’ll have information for you to learn from\, take with you\, and use to spread facts about the big\, horrible bill and more. You probably know that this bill cuts Medicaid\, SNAP\, and other essential programs for the poor and working class and makes health insurance more expensive for all Americans. Did you know this bill is a backdoor ‘ban’ on reproductive healthcare? That it cuts taxes for gun silencers? That while millions lose or pay more for health insurance\, $40 million of our tax dollars will go toward building a “Garden of Heroes” in DC? And you know who gets to choose the heroes.\n\nAnd we have a special guest:  Talented local singer\, Devon LaBoy will perform\, and you won’t want to miss it!\n\nChallenge:  Donate nonperishable food Items to our food drive for Cooperstown Food Pantry and bring ‘newbys’! – bring friends or family who have been on the sidelines. Let’s grow the resistance!\n\nSign up here:  https://www.mobilize.us/john-lewis-actions/event/812583/\n\nWe’ll be on the southside of Hodges Pond near the Summer Concert Bandstand between Veterans Memorial Walk and Francis Marx Drive.\n   \n25-7-8 Neahwa Park Map-1
